2010 Campaign

Ammaia excavation campaign

On 13th July a new excavation campaign started on the site of Ammaia, under the direction of Cristina Corsi and Frank Vermeulen. Some 25 students and collaborators of 6 nationalities, mostly of the Universities of Evora, Cassino and Ghent, participate in this fieldwork. The digs have a double objective. Firstly, part of the unfinished excavations of the late 1990s in the portico around the temple is continued, in order to obtain more precise chronological and stratigraphical data. Secondly, a ground truthing operation in front of the temple podium is organized, to verify and specify the excellent results of different geophysical operations on the whole forum area.
